This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated team, providing a high level of diagnostic virology service using both serological and molecular methods in order to provide patients with reliable diagnosis and treatment.
Duties include the performance of specialist technical and scientific activities, including testing samples referred from other NHS and private laboratories.
Following appropriate training and orientation and in rotation with other BMS staff, you will be required to work as the sole BMS in extended hours, weekends and out of hours service, undertaking urgent or high priority work. Please note this is a specialist biomedical scientist role and completion of the IBMS specialist portfolio or equivalent experience >5 years post registration is a pre-requisite.
The role involves assisting in the day-to-day supervision of MLAs, and the training of trainee BMSs and inexperienced BMS staff in the department.
You will also be expected to deputise for the Senior BMS staff where appropriate and when necessary.
