The Viapath Genetics Laboratory is part of the Genetics Centre at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT). The laboratory performs genetic testing as part of the UK Genetic Testing Network (UKGTN) and works collaboratively with other groups such as GSTT Biomedical Research Centre and the GSTT Assisted Conception Unit for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis.
We have introduced a wide range of tests using next generation sequencing of custom panels using Illumina MiSeq and NextSeq platforms, including Congenital Myopathy and Muscular Dystrophy disease for which we are the national testing laboratory, and we are one of the leading UKGTN laboratories that are offering diagnostic whole exome sequencing.
We are now recruiting to a MLA post. The post holder will join an existing team of MLA staff whose main roles are to extract DNA from blood and other tissues, process DNA samples, participate in specimen reception duties and perform admin duties such as entering patient information onto the lab database.
